Man charged over £110,000 drugs seizure

A 26-year-old man has been charged with possession of drugs and other offences after almost £110,000 worth of narcotics was seized by police during searches in the Dunmurry area in the past week.

Cannabis plants worth around £7,500 were found along with cultivation equipment at a flat in Parkdale House on August 26. Five days later suspected Class A drugs and cannabis resin with a street value in the region of £100,000 were uncovered at a property in the Upper Dunmurry Lane area.

Lisburn Area Commander, Chief Inspector Darrin Jones, has welcomed these latest finds and says they are further evidence that drug-dealing won’t be tolerated.

“Often people will say to me that the police do nothing about drug-dealing in their area. Well, these latest discoveries demonstrate that when good information is brought forward to us, local police will act.

“In fact, officers are continually gathering information about drug-dealers and are using that information to carry out searches and make significant arrests right across the Lisburn policing area.

“We are confident that with ongoing assistance and support from the community, we will continue to identify those who put illegal and dangerous drugs on to our streets, arrest them and remove them from our society.”
