Young mum is over the moon, but that’s it for me, she smiles

Local couple and 3 little bundles of joy

By Gráinne Brinkley

THEY say all good things come in threes and for one West Belfast couple that’s certainly the case. Angela Mooney, a medical practice employee from the Glen Road, and her partner Ciarán McCullough recently welcomed into the world a set of triplets who were christened at St Teresa’s church on Sunday.

Two boys, Odhrán and Aodhán, and their sister Aoibheánn were born on November 23 and have since then proved a welcome handful for their mum and dad.

“It was strange,” said Angela, who now lives with her young family on the Cliftonville Road. “I knew pretty early on that I was pregnant – at about four weeks – and during a scan at five weeks I was told I was having twins. After another scan at nine weeks we were told it was triplets. I just kept laughing, I was in total shock. It didn’t really hit me all the way through the pregnancy that I was having triplets, not until I had them.”

Since giving birth to her three bundles of joy, friends and family of Angela and Ciarán have been rallying around.

“Everyone chips in and does as much as they can,” said Angela. “But I’m not one for asking for help so usually I get up in the morning with them and hope for best. They feed at the same time so that alone takes about an hour and a half.”

Angela, a first-time mum, says that while the triplets have brought endless joy into her life, she has no plans to have any more children.

“No way, that’s it for me,” she smiled. “I don’t think I could cope with any more!”
