Over 2,000 pre-school children, including kids from North Belfast, descended on Belfast Zoo last week for an annual educational visit for early years pupils. The Zoo Days event, organised by young children’s organisation Early Years, included kids from Ben Madigan prep school and Avoca Playgroup in the Oldpark area.

The children, many of whom were on their first visit to the zoo, got to meet and learn about some of their favourite animals.

Claire Sempey, leader of Ben Madigan Prep said :“The children had a great day out, they get so engaged by the animals and it is a great opportunity for fun and to learn in a practical way.”

Liz Graham, Membership Officer for Early Years said the day is always very popular with their groups and members as it's a fun-filled educational day out. “For many children it may be their first experience of seeing and learning more about the different exotic species that Belfast Zoo looks after and it's a great opportunity for everyone to socialise together.”
