Young Roses a ‘Bridge’ too far

By Staff Reporter
Rosario 5 -- Stone Bridge 0

Rosario took on Stone Bridge on Saturday at Ulidia and came away with a comfortable win. From the kick off Rosario piled on the pressure with good efforts from Caolin Chadda, Louis Campbell, Tom Campbell and Eoghan McCabe.

Rosario broke the deadlock after ten minutes when man of the match John McGeogh and Tom Campbell combined to set up Eoghan McCabe who slotted the ball home at the near post.

Rosario continued to dominate with fine efforts from Dan Savage, Caolin Chadda and Matthew Hamilton narrowly missing the target.

Stone Bridge had a couple of good attacks but fine goalkeeping from Liam Frances and good defending from Dan Savage, Matthew Hamilton, Sam O’Farrell and Sean Lyttle kept the Roses ahead.

Eoghan McCabe then sent Caolin Chadda through but he was upended in the box with Tom Campbell coolly netting from the spot.

Rosario could have increased their lead only for some good stops from the opposition goalkeeper.

Five minutes before the half Eoghan McCabe put Rosario 3-0 up after some intelligent play from McGeogh and Tom Campbell.

Stone Bridge had a couple of near misses after Ronnie Donnan fired over the bar from the edge of the six-yard box and Sean Lyttle superbly cleared off the line with a header from Brendan Oddis.

In the second half some good play from Fabian Palwaki and Liam O’Keef, along with Connor King and Jude McStay, made the Stone Bridge defence work very hard.

Rosario went four up when Chadda calmly rounded the keeper.

The goal of the match was scored by Chadda who finished off a move that also involved Matthew Hamilton, Jude McStay and Connor King.

This was a great team performance from a very strong Rosario team, which leaves them clear at the top of the SBYL.

This week Rosario U13s travel to play Shankill United.

Training takes place this Thursday at Shaftesbury at 7pm.
