Irish language group Glór an Tuaiscirt is launching its website and three-year operational plan tonight (Thursday) as part of this year’s Seachtain na Gaeilge celebrations. The site, glorantuaiscirt.com is being launched after the group’s AGM, which is being held in the minor rooms of Ardoyne Kickhams GAC, tonight, March 8.

Glór’s chairperson Conor Stiobhard, who will launch the three-year plan, said that the group aims to increase the profile of the language in the area.

“We recently spent a planning day in Carn Tochair, County Derry, at a very successful Irish regeneration project,” said Conor.

“The operational plan came out of that day’s work and will guide us over the next three years.

“Glór will be organising a series of lectures and classes and we aim to make the area’s Irish language festival Gaeilfeis an annual event.

“We will also run Foscailt Deoirse, a programme for parents whose children are going into Irish medium education, as well as campaigning for Irish language rights and street names.”

Glór an Tuaiscirt are launching the website and the operational plan at 7pm, followed by refreshments, ceol agus craic.
