REGGAE legends UB40 have been announced as the first headline act at this year’s annual Féile an Phobail.

Making their West Belfast debut, the Birmingham musical legends, featuring Ali Campbell, Astro and Mickey Virtue, have sold over 70 million records in a career spanning 37 years and counting.

The band will play the Féile big top on Sunday, August 9 and will play their extensive back catalogue of hit classics including One in Ten, Rat in Mi Kitchen, Cherry O Baby, Kingston Town, Food For Thought, Earth Dies Screaming, (Can't Help) Falling in Love with You and, of course, Red Red Wine.

Tickets are priced at £20 and are available from Ticketmaster from Friday, May 8.

Set to make a welcome return for Féile 2015 are the Wolfe Tones who will play the Falls Park on Saturday, August 8 with support from Gary Óg and Rebel Hearts. Tickets are priced at £10 and are also available from Ticketmaster.

Féile Director Kevin Gamble promised that these headline announcements were just the start of what he hoped would be the “widest reaching Féile ever”.

“The fact that we have legends UB40 already signed up for this year is a statement of our ambition for 2015,” he said.

“The early response from the community has been breathtaking and we can promise you that Ireland's biggest community festival not only just got bigger, but we're determined to bring more big names than ever before to Féile and West Belfast. So watch this space for more exciting announcements!”
