Over 2,000 pre-school children, including kids from North Belfast, descended on Belfast Zoo last week for an annual educational visit for early years pupils. The Zoo Days event, organised by young children’s organisation Early Years, included kids from Ben Madigan prep school and Avoca Playgroup in the Oldpark area.

Another barracks gets social housing go ahead
Social housing is to be built on the site of a former North Belfast barracks that closed two years ago. The homes are to be built by Fold Housing Association on the site of Oldpark Barracks. The former police station closed in 2010. The housing association is to built ten homes on the site.

A pregnant North Belfast woman who has pleaded with the Housing Executive to repair her damp sodden home says assurances made to her that the problems would be addressed have not been followed through. Julie Ann Kingham contacted the North Belfast News in January to express her concern about the damp problem in her Oldpark home and how it was affecting the health of her asthma suffering daughter Demi-Lee.
Sex abuse rally to give victims back their voice
A North Belfast woman who co-founded a survivors group after she was sexually abused as a child has organised a rally next week to raise awareness of abuse. Oldpark woman Julieanne Boyle was the first woman to come forward without anonymity in a sexual abuse case 17 years ago.
