Flying the flags (nearly)

THEY’VE been flying the English flag in the streets and shops and pubs of West Belfast since Euro 2012 began two weeks ago. Friends to honour Micky with PIPS marathon run

A group of North Belfast pals are to run the city marathon this year in memory of their much-missed friend who took his own life last year. Stephen, Dee and Ciaran Burns, Aisling Martin and Gary Patterson have formed a team to run the marathon in memory of their friend, local DJ Michael ‘Micky’ McCartan, who died last August.

Be nice to each other at charity Mr and Mrs

A charity night will be held in a North Belfast bar later this month in aid of a local suicide awareness charity.The Mr and Mrs competition at the Chester has been organised by local group Laura’s Legacy, set up in memory of Whitewell Road 22-year old Laura Hughes who took her own life in May 2008.
