This second running of the North Belfast Open will take place in the Shamrock Social club in Ardoyne this Saturday and will run for nine weeks of qualifiers for  the Grand Finals in early November.

Last year’s inaugural event was a huge success with no fewer than three top PDC professionals paying a visit during the competition culminating in Alex ‘Ace of Hearts’ Roy’s exhibition on the presentation night.

The format for 2011 has been slightly changed with the automatic qualification for qualifier finalists being dropped and a seeding system being introduced for the finals.

Points make prizes and the more rounds a player competes in the more points they will accumulate and this will determine their position, if they qualify, in the final 32.

However, making a welcome return is the very popular free £2 bet courtesy of sponsors Sean Grahams.

Entry fee for each round is £5 and all entry fees will be paid out on the day to the semi-finalists and better.

Players should aim to be in the club as early as possible to get some practice in before the 1.30pm draw. Darts will start at 2.15pm.

There will be four boards in operation and each board winner will take one of the four semi-final spots.
