Police have arrested a 39-year-old man on suspicion of withholding information linked to the murder of Jennifer Dornan.

The West Belfast mother-of-three was found dead after a fire at her home in Hazel View in Lagmore in the early hours of Sunday morning. Thirty-six hours later police launched a murder inquiry.

Police said Ms Dornan may have been killed before the fire was started.

Meanwhile, nearly £15,000 has been raised for Jennifer’s three children, aged eight, six and four, since a fund was set up four days ago.

Claire Caldwell, who set up a gofundme.com page to raise funds for Ms Dornan’s three children, described Jennifer as “one of the nicest people you could ever meet”.

“Jennifer always had the biggest of smiles, she would’ve helped anyone and you just couldn’t pass her, she had such an infectious personality. She had the biggest happiest laugh; she wouldn’t have harmed a fly. She was so independent and doted on her three children, she really just doted on them.”

She added: “Since Sunday the community has really come together to try and help. I set up the gofundme page with the hope of trying to raise £1,000 but it’s close to £15,000 now which is amazing. It just shows you that people are feeling so much for the family as well. People just want to help.

“People are donating whatever they can afford, whether it’s £1, £2, every wee bit helps and gives them one less worry,” she said. “The donations we’ve received so far have just been so thoughtful and kind, from school uniforms, bikes and toys.

“We had set up for donations in Colin Glen Forest Park but moved to Christ the Redeemer Parish Hall as most people know it’s close to the chapel.

“What happened to Jennifer is such a tragedy, it’s absolutely devastating. I don’t know how to word it. There are three children left without a mummy and we are all just pulling together to try and do something.”
