PG Bet Of the week

A local Lenadoon punter had cause for celebration on Saturday after touching with a dream of a horse bet.

Our lucky punter known only as ‘Ed’ placed his £1 Lucky 15 and £1 each-way quad - a £17 outlay on his bet.

His first selection ELY BROWN (12/1) won the 2.25, the Pertemps Handicap Hurdle at Warwick to give the bet a flying start and  minutes later the well-backed OSCARA DARA won the Lanzarote Hurdle (2.40) at 5/1.

The sweat was on and his next horse BRACKLOON HIGH (6/1) looked to have the 3.15 Kempton race in the bag going down to the final fence,  but he hit the last hard and just about held-on to the delight of our sweating punter.

The final leg was the marathon Classic Chase and his bet looked beat as Rigadin de Beauchene (5/1) looked in trouble three-out as Godsmejudge and favourite Pete the Feat raced on and left him one-paced but he got closer coming to the last but a bad jump looked to have sealed his fate. Jockey Robbie Dunne never gave up and got up in the last stride to deliver Ed the bet of a lifetime - he picked up close to £10,000 - £9,999.04 to be exact. What a bet and he has promised our very own Squinter a few beers in the Roddies at the weekend, think the PG might just join them.
Weekend Soccer Bets

Ante Post UPDATE

Manchester United remain the 2/7 on favourites with Sean Graham to regain the Premiershp crown after their Super Sunday win against Liverpool while Manchester City stay around 10/3 after easing to victory against a toothless Arsenal side. We have another Super Sunday this weekend with Arsenal taking on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and you would have to fear for the Gunners there while leaders Man Utd face a tricky  enough trip to White Hart Lane to face Spurs who beat them 3-2 at Old Trafford earlier in the season.

The on-firem - and my player of the season so far - Robin Van Persie is 10/11 on win the Golden Boot with Luis Suarez and Demba Ba the only dangers to the Dutch striker.

The PG QUAD

I like most other people hate January with a passion, it’s just one long miserable month and we hope to lighten it up with a winning bet this weekend - it’s due.

Staying firmly away from Premiership in the quad this week - too dodgy to call - we start in the Championship and we are siding with ‘bookies’ team BOLTON (5/2) who always seem to let bets down when they are odds-on to win  and will be chomping at the bit after beating Sunderland on Tuesday night in the FA Cup.

They travel to Selhurst Park to take on high-flying Crystal Palace and Dougie Freedman could haunt his old club and we are taking the ex-Eagle player/boss and his Bolton side to leave with all three points in this one.

CARDIFF (6/4) have hit a wall in recent weeks but we expect the Championship side to bounce back to form at Bloomfield Road on Saturday night and take maximum points against Blackpool.

YEOVIL  (5/4) turned over Sheffield Utd last week at Bramall Lane and can follow up with another three points at home to struggling Preston North End.

League Two  bottom club BRISTOL ROVERS (15/8) won 3-0 away to  Fleetwood Town last weekend and we think they could pull themselves off the bottom with another win at home to Exeter. If that quad wins then January will not seem that long.

The PG XXX TRIxIE

On to the weekend draws and we start at Hillsborough where SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY host WOLVES and this looks a tough call and come Saturday at 4.45pm, both teams could be happy with a point.

The SPL returns after a short two-week break and ABERDEEN can take a point away their long trip to INVERNESS.

Hopefully a 11/1 double banked for our trixie punters as we move to Sunday for our final selection and we head to White Hart Lane where leaders MANCHESTER UNITED take on a hard-to-beat TOTTENHAM HOTSPURS team and a draw at 11/5 looks the easy way out in this one.

The PG GOALRUSH

10 from 12 last week for the second week running so lets hope we have the full-house this week. We suggest both teams to score in the following games: Swansea v Stoke, Wigan v Sunderland, Birmingham v Brighton, Peterborough v Hull City, Blackpool v Cardiff and finishing off on Sunday with the Spurs v Man Utd match.

The PG Fivehit

We finish with the odds-on and start in the Championship and IPSWICH (10/11) looks a home banker bet against Barnsley while BRENTFORD (4/5) can win the top-of-the-table clash in League One against Tranmere.

DONCASTER (4/5) can hold on to the top spot with a win over Leyton Orient while in-form SWINDON (1/2) can see off Shrewsbury.

PORT VALE (4/5) went top with a win at Gillingham last week and can maintain that with a win over Bradford who will have one eye on their League Cup meeting with Aston Villa.
