The Belfast Allianz Cumann na mBunscoil leagues have been under way for several weeks now. This week Holy Cross extended their winning start as they proved too strong for New Lodge men Edmund Rice on a score 6-8 to 4-4.

Blain Keenan and Gerard Maguire were in exceptional form, lording the midfield and taking some brilliant scores between them.

Edmund Rice weren’t without their leaders either as Fintan O’Neill linked up well with Conor Canavan and John-Joe McVicker.

They set up many attacks but the vigilant Dylan Brown in goal, was quick of his line each time to snuff out the threat.

It was Conor McAuley from Pim Street who registered the first goal, gathering the ball on the ’40, before unleashing an unstoppable shot.

Soon the Ardoyne men were back on level terms thanks to the determination of Blaine Keenan. The second half saw Holy Cross pull away from their neighbours as Fintan McFarlane put in a strong performance to help his team.

Holy Cross face St Anne’s and the winner of this match will face Bunscoil Beal Féirste in the decider of Division 1 of the Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Leagues.
