Glen 10 information session

By Staff Reporter

The West Belfast Partnership in conjunction with the Department for Social Development will host an information session on the development of the area known as Glen 10.

The sites bounded by the Hannahstown Hill, Glen Road and Upper Springfield are collectively known as  Glen 10 or Ard na Ghleanna. The sites offer an exciting opportunity to create a sustainable urban extension to the city’s current settlement limit.

At the consultations held last year, a number of important issues were raised and this information session, will provide further feedback and detail on drainage, traffic and housing provision.

Callie Persic, the Strategic Regeneration Manager with the West Belfast Partnership Board said:

“We recognise the value of local knowledge and expertise in guiding the team of consultants tasked with preparing an overarching vision for the Glen 10 lands and hope that you will join us at this public information event prior to the commencement of the formal consultation.”

Jenny Pyper, Head of Urban Regeneration in the Department for Social Development said:

“The Glen Road Development Framework project is about creating a modern, sustainable and attractive neighbourhood in this part of west Belfast.  It’s important that we hear from the people who will be living and working in this new community about what is important to them.    Local people raised some very important issues at our information event last year, and I look forward to hearing from them again before we finalise the framework and move to formal consultation. “

The event will take place on Monday December 5 in the Glenowen Inn, 108-112 Glen Road at 6pm.
