Families of the victims of the McGurk’s Bar massacre are holding a public meeting this  Saturday (September 17) ahead of the fortieth anniversary of the atrocity later this year.

Fifteen innocent people were killed when the UVF bombed the North Queen Street bar on December 4, 1971.

Victims group Survivors of Trauma are hosting a public meeting with the McGurk’s families at their Cliftonville Road base.

The families are asking for people to bring along any items they may have from the time, from photos to newspaper clippings, documents, or even items from inside the bar itself.

Their plan is to collate as much information as possible to for an exhibition in time for the anniversary.

The event is open to the public and begins at 1pm at Survivors of Trauma, 151 Cliftonville Road.
