Over 120 golfers braved blustry conditiions in Ballycastle for the Club Aontroma fundraising Golf Classic. The highest scoring team had former All Ireland Clare hurler  Ollie Baker (12 handicap) playing along with Dunloy's Dominic Kearns (15), Shane Staunton (18) and Neil McAuley (24) finishing six shots ahead of Turlough McKeegan's Cushendun contingent.

Gerry Dillon from Bannside Credit Union and former Antrim and Cushendall camogie player Brenda McNeill recored the top individual scores while Dr John McSparran pipped leading lady Karen Coyles for the longest drive.

Ivor Torrens playing with Dessie Donnelly's 'Team Ballycastle' took home the 'nearest to the pin' accolade.

Special guest - US Deputy Consul General, Kevin Roland, teed off with Ortus General Manager Seamus O'Prey, Martin Arkins and Antrimfootballer Paddy Cunningham (all pictured right). The US Official praised the  Antrim GAA.

“We work closely with the GAA and other organisations involved in sport and community development in Northern Ireland,” said Kevin.

“The work the GAA do within the community is fantastic and I was delighted to be in a position to hit a few balls in support.”

Colm McKenna, Chairman of the Club Aontroma committee, the funding partner for Gaelic games development in Antrim was delighted with the turn out.

“It has been a wonderful day and credit must go to all our participants and sponsors.

“Thanks also to Trevor Peacock the course manager, to the Ballycastle Golf Club staff who along with our own committee and staff from Casement Park, went out of their way to ensure a really enjoyable day."

Not only were there winners on the Ballycastle links course, but off it Club Aontroma ran an additional ballot which resulted in a few more happy patrons.

3rd Prize - Round of golf at Dundalk - Frankie Quinn

4th Prize - Limited edition 1989 Antrim Hurling Team -  Barry Hamill

5th Prize - Meal for two at The Elk - Turlough McKeegan

6th Prize - Meal for 2 at Laragh Lodge -  Niall Wheeler
