LAST Wednesday the Midweek team travelled to Ballynahinch to take on Magheradroll in their last match of the season with a patched up team and, despite having to wait for an hour to start the match due to bad weather, came away with five and a half points to secure a top-half finish in Midweek Division 1.

The Midweek rink scores were:

B Fitzpatrick 6 – 14 H Stevens

P Kane 23 – 4 H Rogers

Last Saturday the Seniors travelled to near neighbours Salisbury knowing they had to get the majority of points to beat Forthriver to the last promotion place in Senior Division 2.

In a very tight match Jim McGinn’s and Leonard McKenna’s rinks managed to score a five and a three respectively on the last end to pick up a point and a half to build on Gerry Sand’s great rink win to clinch five and a half points to take the promotion spot.

Forthriver for the record scored only one point in their match with PSNI.

The Seniors won 78 – 73 and the rink scores were:

R Gray 12 – 21 G Eaton Jnr

G Sands 27 – 14 W Watters

J McGinn 20 – 19 J Warnock

The Juniors meanwhile entertained the same opposition at Wilson Park collecting all seven points on the way to clinch the PGL Junior Division 2 title.  The rink scores were:

T Killen 25 – 14 R Smith

B Beveridge 30 – 5 F MCGrath

P Kane 31 – 10 N Harper

J Lyttle 20 – 17 B Mairs

With the league season now over, attention switches to the various club competitions and those members participating are reminded that this year’s Finals Day is scheduled for 10th September.

The Competition Committee ask that any outstanding matches be played as soon as possible.
