Recreational riots arranged on internet must be stopped before marching season

A recent upsurge in interface clashes organised on the internet have led to calls for police to step up their monitoring of the area ahead of a planned Tour of the North parade. Over the past three weekends ‘recreational rioting’ between gangs of youths on the Limestone Road and Alexandra Park has been on the rise with clashes being organised through social networking websites.

A North Belfast estate agent has said that traders in the housing market are becoming realistic about the value of their homes in the area. The comments come after the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) released its latest housing Market Survey on Tuesday 12 June that recording its lowest reading on house prices since November 2010.

Consultation on reduction in speeds is launched

A consultation seeking views on a reduction in speed limits from 30mph to 20mph on designated unclassified roads has been launched by a local MLA. SDLP  man Conall McDevitt said the main objective of the exercise is to increase road safety, particularly for pedestrians.
