Big-hearted Aquinas pupils come up trumps for Trócaire

By Staff Reporter

Pupils from Aquinas Grammar School have achieved ‘solidarity’ with the developing world after an amazing fundraising achievement for Trócaire.

The school raised an impressive total of £13,852 over the last academic year, with four junior students receiving silver awards from the charity for their efforts, and 12 seniors receiving gold.

Trócaire bestowed the Solidarity Status, also known as the Hope Award on the school, making it one of just 11 across Ireland to have achieved this level of recognition from the charity. Belfast Lod Mayor Niall Ó Donnghaile presented some of the pupils with the award on behalf of Trócaire.

School Principal Barry Kelly told the South Belfast News he was thrilled with the award. “Aquinas is delighted to receive such a tribute from Trócaire which is testament to the generosity of our pupils and their families as well as the hard work of our teaching staff.”
