Albion Star 2003 v Willowbank

Albion Star welcomed Willowbank to the Shaftesbury Rec this week with Niall O’Kane slipping the ball home to put Albion 1-0 up.

Shortly after Luca Morelli and Seamus Duffy continued their fine form, scoring two quick fire goals to give Albion a commanding lead going into the break.

Albion Star heaped more misery on Willowbank when Seamus Duffy nipped in to get his second of the game.

Luca Morelli then scored a great individual goal for his second before Niall O’Kane pitched in with his second goal with a superb strike.

Albion Star were denied several times by some brilliant saves from the Willowbank goalkeeper but all her work was undone when Seamus Duffy drilled home his hat-trick.

After the break there were changes made to freshen up the Albion team, which saw Dylan Valliday and Ciaran McNally come on.

Ciaran McNally got himself on the scoresheet with a placed shot into the corner of the net.

To round off a commanding win for Albion Star, with Albion keeper Connor McCarthy a spectator in goal, both Luca Morelli and Niall O’Kane completed their hat-tricks with two great finishes.

Albion Star 2002s v Cliftonville

Halfway through the first period Albion Star broke the deadlock when Seamus Duffy’s shot, which took a deflection, wormed its way in over the goal line to give Albion Star the lead.

The lead was shortlived when Cliftonville pulled a goal back before the break.

In the second half Cliftonville caught Albion Star on the break, leaving Connor McCarthy in nets with no chance. Albion Star looked to have responded well from some encouraging words and came out in the last period of the game all guns blazing.

All Albion Star’s hard work eventually paid off when John Sloan slammed home a thunderous strike.

In the last few minutes of the game everything was tense with both teams pushing to get the next goal.

Jack Flynn, who commanded the midfield, released Seamus Duffy and his cross was turned into the Cliftonville goal for an own goal.

Albion looked to have wrapped the game up with seconds to go when they got a free-kick in their own half which Jack Flynn floated into the Cliftonville net.
