The women of North Belfast are in for a treat this weekend when four local sports stars do the ‘full Monty’ in aid of a local suicide prevention charity. The four brave males will be baring all at McGrath’s Bar on the Cliftonville Road on Saturday night in aid of PIPS suicide awareness.
Michael D follows in Mary’s footsteps
North Belfast political representatives met with President Michael D Higgins last week during his first official visit to the North. Sinn Féin MLAs Gerry Kelly and Carál Ní Chuilín met with the president in south Belfast’s Crescent Arts Centre. He also paid a visit to the Wave Trauma Centre just off the Antrim Road to see how victims of the Troubles are being supported.
Fr Casimir ‘gravely ill’
Popular Ardoyne priest Fr Casimir Haran is seriously ill in hospital today after suffering a suspected stroke whilst celebrating a funeral mass yesterday (Wednesday). The much loved Holy Cross curate took ill whilst celebrating Requiem Mass on Wednesday morning and remains in a serious condition in the Royal Victoria Hospital.
CIRA Murder Victims’ families to speak out on brutal killings
The families of two men brutally murdered in Belfast five years ago are to finally break their silence at a press conference next week. The press conference is being organised by the families of Joe Jones and Eddie Burns on the fifth anniversary of their murders, at 10am next Monday 12 March at Conway Mill.
Students claim victory over British military on campus
A GROUP calling for the British Army to keep out of Queen’s University have claimed a victory after an event by the head of the campus’ Officer Training Corp (OCT) was “postponed”.
